Despite his very big mouth, Nigel was a creature of absolute integrity.  One could confide in Nigel, bear one’s soul, share one’s secrets and woes, and dear, wise Nigel was always prepared to lend a listening ear, a sympathetic word of comfort, or serene and comforting silence.  One was blessed to call Nigel a friend.
 
Nigel, here, is one of my larger sculptures to date, soaring over the rest of my Wire Menagerie on his big, wooden post.  Made with hundreds of feet of dark annealed wire in several gauges (a quick reminder, all of my wire sculptures are solid wire to the core with no filler or frame within), Nigel boasts heft and elegance.  He is adorned with many findings, perhaps, most notably, the soft chainmail pouch of his bill, which is supple and irresistible to touch.  Necklace parts, earrings, and more lend color and delightful little pops of texture and brightness here and there.  Nigel measures 15.5 inches tall (this includes the height of the base) by 13.5 inches long by 6 inches wide.
